A full-time research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Roy Morello, PhD in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), in Little Rock, AR. The interest of the lab is to study the function of novel genes that affect skeletal formation, homeostasis and disease. The position will be focused on studying the role of Leprecan genes in bone biology, osteogenesis imperfecta and collagen modification with the use of genetically modified mouse models (see Morello R et al, Cell 127(2), 291-304, 2006; Gruenwald K et al.: ‘Sc65 is a novel endoplasmic reticulum protein that regulates bone mass homeostasis’. JBMR 2013). A Ph.D. is required however senior PhD students willing to spend at least 2 years abroad will also be considered.Desirable candidates must possess: a strong laboratory experience, a solid background in molecular/cellular biology and animal experimentation, and an inner motivation to succeed in a focused scientific environment.
