Postdoctoral Researcher - Circuit Reconstruction & Regenerative Neuroscience (ERC CUSTOM_MADE) - NICO, Department of Neuroscience, University of Turin, Italy

Join Annalisa Buffo’s team (lab: https://nico.ottolenghi.unito.it/en/research-groups/physiopathology-of-neural-stem-cells/) on the ERC project CUSTOM_MADE
(https://nico.ottolenghi.unito.it/en/research-groups/physiopathology-of-neural-stem-cells/projects/).

Project
We aim to rebuild functional striatal circuits by grafting human striatal progenitors with optimized properties in preclinical models of Huntington’s disease, combining circuit-tracing with single-cell and spatial omics.

Responsibilities
- Devise strategies and tools for single-neuron input/output mapping integrated with molecular profiling (eg viral barcoding, retro/anterograde tracers).
- Analyze single-cell/nucleus and spatial transcriptomics datasets; integrate multi-omics.
- Develop and maintain reproducible bioinformatics pipelines and contribute to data/documentation best practices.

Required qualifications and desired skills
PhD in neuroscience, bioinformatics/computational biology, bioengineering or related.
Track record in one or more: single-cell/spatial omics, molecular barcoding, viral circuit tracing.
Proficiency in R/Python; statistics for high-dimensional data.
Molecular biology experience (cloning/molecular barcodes technologies) is welcome.
Nice to have (not required): hPSC engineering/differentiation (eg CRISPR/AAV).

Environment & resources
The candidate will integrate in a lab with strong multi-disciplinary interests, and within a stimulating
partnership across molecular neuroscience, bioengineering, stem cell, systems biology, and
regenerative medicine.

Terms
Full-time, initial 2-year contract with possibility of renewal; salary commensurate with experience
Start date: first half of 2026.
