Post-Doc positions are available in the Group of Cardiac Development, Remodeling and Regeneration under the supervision of Dr. Paola Cattaneo. The group is part of the University of Milan a center of Excellence and one of the biggest Univesity in Italy and is located at the Monzino Cardiology Center in Milan, Italy.

The research focus of the Cattaneo group is to decipher mechanisms by which transcription factors, regulatory elements and epigenetic enzymes orchestrate heart development, regeneration and cardiac fibrosis.
Positions are available on projects focusing on understanding epigenetic and RNA translational mechanisms controlling cardiomyocyte differentiation and maturation. The specific projects will include analyses of mouse models, induced pluripotent stem cells and primary cell culture using a variety of molecular, biochemical and functional techniques.
Prospective start date: September 2024 – December 2024
The contract is initially of 1 year with possibility of extension for 5 years.
Salary scale is to be determined based on previous work experience.
The position is based in Milan,Italy (within the IRCCS Monzino Cardiology Center).
Main Tasks:
• Planning and conducting experiments using transgenic mouse models (colony management, treatments and organ harvest).
• Histological and functional analysis for the characterization of cardiac phenotypes
• FACs sorting and primary cell culture
• Molecular biology experiments to generate RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq datasets.
• Support for grant applications, project reports and paper preparation.
• Participation in International collaborative projects.
General requirements:
• PhD degree in Moleculer Biology, Biotechnology or similar subjects.
• Strong technical skills in molecular and cellular biology and a background in the field of cardiovascular research.
• Previous experience in mouse handling and FELASA accreditation is highly recommended
• Previous experience in iPS cell culture is considered a plus.
• Organizational skills, time efficient, good communication skills and open mind.
• Independent working method but also team-oriented work.
• Strong analytical skills and a creative, problem solving-oriented mindset are required.
• Good knowledge of verbal and written English

curiosity.
