The Vienna Biocenter (VBC) PhD Programme in Life Sciences has been successfully running since 1993, providing students from all over the world with exceptional training. As an IPP student, your PhD research will be conducted within the lab of one of the participating groups. The Group Leader in whose lab you are based will act as your mentor and provide advice and guidance to ensure that you receive training in both the scientific skills and the creative and critical thinking abilities that you will need for your research and personal development as a scientist.

One MSc/PhD Student Position is available at the University of Alberta, Edmonton (Canada)for a September 2015 start date to study mechanisms determining the degeneration or the proliferation of neurons using the D. melanogaster fruit fly model.

This highly innovative PhD Course is composed of a network of qualified academic and industrial institutions both in EU as well as in non-EU countries, and aims at acquiring an international position in the field of experimental research in biology and medicine. 22 Position are provided.
