The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI) is a world leading academic establishment with a vibrant, multidisciplinary scientific environment devoted to therapeutic innovation in cardiovascular, endocrine and inflammatory diseases and is part of Barts and The London School of Medicine at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). In the most recent national research assessment exercise (REF-2014) Barts and The London School of Medicine was placed in the top 5 medical schools in the UK and QMUL was positioned within the top 10 multi-faculty Colleges. As part of its strategic investment in the areas of cardiovascular and inflammation, the WHRI is now seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Reader to its Centre for Microvascular Research. This Centre is currently composed of ~25 staff and has an international prominence in the fields of vascular biology, inflammation and leukocyte trafficking. The Centre is based on the Charterhouse Square Campus of the Medical School and offers newly refurbished laboratories, cutting edge imaging facilities and is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Art and Music Centre and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with a proven track record of academic excellence in the fields of inflammation, immunity, vascular biology and/or related disciplines and capable of making a significant contribution to the overall research strategy of the Centre and the Institute. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the management of the Centre, and to make appropriate contributions to teaching and administrative duties within the School and College. The position is a full-time, permanent post (subject to 3 year probation) with a starting salary of £51,785-£57,882 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
