Department of Molecular and Developmental Medicine,
University of Siena, Italy
We are currently seeking highly motivated and talented candidates to join our research team
at the University of Siena.
Positions are open at the level of PhD student and of post-doctoral fellow. Ongoing research projects in the lab are interested in:
1) Application of RNA-seq techniques, microarrays, and bioinformatics to identify biomarkers
and pathogenic molecular pathways activated in mouse models of myopathy and in
patients with genetic myopathies.
2) Application of therapeutic approaches based on miRNA expression in mouse models of
myopathy to improve mitochondrial function and muscle fiber metabolism in order to
counterbalance muscular atrophy observed in patients with muscular myopathies and
dystrophies.
3) Changes in chromatin structure in a novel mouse model of type 2 diabetes.
These projects are part of a large collaborative network involving Research Centers and Universities in Italy and abroad.
Candidates are expected to have a strong research experience in cellular and molecular biology. Previous experience in gene expression analysis and in AAV-mediated gene delivery will be preferred.
