Exploiting metabolic vulnerabilities to harness breast cancer
We recently found an evolutionarily conserved mechanism by which the cancer cell responds to micro-environmental stimuli, such as nutrients deprivation and cytokines, activating a stress response signaling which drives to metabolic reprogramming of the cell to survive, bypass senescence, and metastasize (Falletta et al, 2017).
The fine-tuning of this signaling cascade could tip the cancer cell fate from proliferative to apoptotic.
The successful candidate will focus on HER2+ and triple negative breast cancer. He/she will be involved in the identification of targetable vulnerabilities in the metabolic stress response, identifying phenotypic states as putative targets to be exploited for alternative therapeutic strategies.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed candidate driven by curiosity and passion for science. Expertise in cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology and imaging techniques are mandatory requirements. Previous research experience in the breast cancer or cancer immunology fields will be considered as a plus. Fluency in English (both spoken and written), independent thinking and team working skills are requested.
